BODIES IN URBAN SPACES

JULY 8 > 9  – PARCO DELLA TESORIERA, TORINO

FREE ENTRY

As a site-specific performance inaugurating the presence of “Teatro a Corte” inside the Parco della Tesoreria in Turin, Bodies in urban spaces is an artistic event enacted by twenty performers in a public space, halfway between theatre and installation. Huddled under a bench, wedged between a group of trees, balancing on a fountain, perched on top of the walls or disguised in the door jambs, the bodies of the artists lead the audience in an unusual journey through the spaces of their city. Involving passers-by and residents, this show aims to discover new performing possibilities and gives new perspectives through which we can observe places already known in a different way. Participating in the most important European festivals for many years, the Viennese choreographer Willi Dorner realized, through his unusual attendance in urban spaces, a real site-specific event, working from town to town with local performer groups.

WILLI DORNER
As a choreographer, the Viennese Willi Dorner creates stage performances, site-specific projects, films and installations presented at major international festivals. Bodies in urban spaces, that was presented at our Festival in a version specifically conceived for Turin, won many international awards (the award for interdisciplinary art at the KOÏNZI-DANCE Festival in Hamburg for example) and inspired the publication of the photo book with the same name, realized with the photographer Lisa Rastl. Dorner also shot the short films TREID (1999), mazy (2003), body trail and fleeting (2009), set in motion (2012) and every-one (2015).
