Billy Cowie

JULY 15 – CASTELLO DI RIVOLI

ITINERARY 7 p.m ITINERARY 9 p.m

The new project created by Billy Cowie for the Art Museum Kochi in Japan arrives at the Castello di Rivoli plunging the spectator into a dream of poetry of great elegance and charm, thanks to the graphic works by the German artist Silke Mansholt, who became a point of reference for the creation of the Scottish artist’s visual landscape. Lyrical and poignant, the imagery conceived by Cowie abandons the classic 3D image for relying on the minimalist dance of two performers who dialogue with background animations that seem to incorporate them and regenerate them, like the wave of a life-giving ocean.

BILLY COWIE
Gilles Jobin recognized him as the father of the dance in 3D; Mikhail Baryshnikov declared he was deeply impressed by Cowie’s lyrical and romantic imagery; the director of the Contemporary Dance Company of Cuba, Miguel Iglesias, called him a dance poet Teatro a Corte counts Billy Cowie among its cult artists and hosted him during different editions, presenting for the first time in Italy his entire artistic repertoire: In the Flesh, The Revery Alone, Ghosts in the Machine, Tango de Soledad is T’es pas la seule, Art of Movement.
